Complete in 9 images, this simple story with dreamlike imagery emphasizes passage, discovery, freedom, enlightenment, and spirituality. These images illustrate two worlds, one starry and obscure, the other aerial and bright, and the passage and communication between them.
To create the images, I positioned and photographed the girl (my sister, Hope) in front of black and white backgrounds and in a field. I adjusted lighting to match the final images and extracted the shapes of the girl to use as building blocks. The light rays, shadows, portals, spheres, squares, etc., were created in photoshop from scratch and then assembled with the photographs of the girl.
The impossibility of unseen dimensions, alternate realities, and wormholes inspired me to create. The images are impossible in the real world, but give the impression of real space. Through the use of a few simple components, the images are surreal and mean to provoke inquiry.
