This is a logo I designed for my highschool friend Lillian. She gave me some loose guidelines. She wanted something vintage in a shade of dark brown. Therefor I had ample of freedom, which is both liberating and nerve-racking, because you are free to create what you like, but anxious that it will fit the client's needs.
After sketching out several ideas I decided to incorporate a cozy image of a cottage. I searched for images of cottages for inspiration and ended up with the following logo. To my relief, she was surprised but delighted with the logo.
At this point in the process, I had a solid one-color logo exactly like the following image. I showed her many color variations, but in the end we landed where we started with the solid brown color. Though they did not make the final cut, I personally think the color variations are playful and exciting, which is why they are included in this posting.
